School Policies |

Behavior Policy Ö Students are expected to behave courteously and respectfully towards their peers and to members of staff at all times. Ö Cedars employs a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying of any description. Ö Offensive language is strictly prohibited. Ö Students must treat books, school property and other resources with due care and consideration. Ö Students are expected to conduct themselves in a sensible manner at all times whilst on the school premises. Ö All students are expected to conform to Internet Codes of Conduct as prescribed by the I.T. department. Ö With students representing nationalities from over 40 different countries it is expected that all students will be respectful of the beliefs, customs and traditions of their fellow peers. Ö It is strictly forbidden for students to smoke on the school premises. Ö Cedars employs a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs. Any student found in the possession of illegal substances will be expelled from the school immediately and permanently. Ö Weapons of any description, real or imitation, are strictly prohibited. Any student found in the possession of a weapon will be expelled from the school immediately. Ö Alcohol is strictly prohibited on the school premises. Any student found in the possession of alcohol will be expelled from the school immediately.
Dress Code Ö Students are expected to dress in an appropriate manner. Female senior students in particular must take into account the customs and traditions of Muslim peers and dress accordingly - e.g. no excessively short skirts or otherwise revealing clothing. Ö Junior students must have a hat to wear during break time, especially during the warmer months of the year. Ö Female students aged 5-13 years are permitted to wear simple stud earrings and a watch. No cosmetics, jewellery or other accessories are permitted. Ö Male students aged 5-13 years are permitted to wear a watch. No jewellery or other accessories are permitted. Ö Female students aged 14-18 years are permitted to wear a watch and a modest amount of jewellery and cosmetics. Excessive make-up and jewellery is strongly discouraged. Ö Male students aged 14-18 years are permitted to wear a watch and a modest amount of other accessories.
Food & Drink Policy Ö Junior students must bring a suitable snack to school every day. Ö Senior students may order take-away snacks. However, they must use their own mobile phone to order the food and it may only be consumed during set snack times Ö Cedars employs a strict no nuts policy as some students incur an allergic reaction. Ö Glass bottles are not allowed. Ö Soda drinks (e.g. Coke / Sprite) are not allowed. Ö Chewing gum / bubble gum is not allowed. Ö Food may only be consumed during set snack times. No food or drink (except water) may be consumed in classrooms during lesson times.
Toys & Electronic Games Ö Junior students may bring one suitable toy or game to school for use at set break times. Ö Toy weapons such as guns, knives, swords, catapults etc. are not allowed and will be confiscated immediately. Ö Junior students may bring an electronic item (e.g. Gameboy or personal stereo) to play with on Thursdays only during set break times. Such items are not permitted during other days of the school week. Ö Senior students may bring a personal stereo or similar item for use at set break times only throughout the week. Please note that Cedars does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to personal items. Please do not allow your child to bring expensive or delicate items into school.
Mobile Telephones Ö Junior students are not permitted to carry mobile telephones. However, Cedars is prepared to consider individual cases. Where it is absolutely necessary for a student to have a telephone it must be pre-arranged with the school. The student must give the telephone to a designated member of the administration staff during lesson times. Ö Senior students are permitted to carry a mobile telephone. However, it is strictly prohibited for the telephone to be used during lesson times. The telephone must be switched to “silent” during lectures. Any student who violates this rule will have their telephone confiscated.
